Our two day river trip experience in Canadian canoes from Boroughbridge to York follows the picturesque River Ure and ends on the River Ouse in York, North Yorkshire. This is our ultimate canoeing experience for those seeking a real adventure.

Canoeing Journey

Boroughbridge to Linton-on-Ouse
Linton-on-Ouse to York

Both days are roughly 16km (10 miles) which is approximately five hours canoeing per day. This adventure starts at Naburn (York) where you will meet one of our qualified canoe guides. Here you will park your car and be transported to the start location in Boroughbridge. From here you will pack your canoe and get ready for the next two days of fun and adventure. You will be given a safety brief before setting off and be shown how to paddle your canoe; now the adventure begins!
Our kit is first class, the Silverbirch Broadland 15 canoes are perfect for this type of adventure as they are spacious with plenty of storage for your personal belongings, food for two days and your camping equipment.

You will be kitted out with:
A 15ft canoe
A paddle
A buoyancy aid
A cag (a protective layer helping to keep you dry, trap heat and reduce the wind chill)
A waterproof bag for your personal belongings
A 3 person Vango tent (2 people tent, unless agreed prior to arrival)
A sleeping mat

We also cover the camping fees and transport from York back to Boroughbridge to pick up your vehicles.

We can also pick you up from York Train Station to start your adventure if that suits you better.

How WILD will your canoe adventure be?

The canoeing adventure leaves Boroughbridge meandering down the picturesque River Ure, we will stop on route for an alfresco style lunch (picnic) ending the day at Linton Lock Marina. Here we tie the canoes up, pitch the tents and build camp for the evening! It’ll bring the boy scout or girl guide out of you! Here we have an option you can bring food to  cook on our gas stoves or we can book a table in the on-site pub and have a meal. In the morning we can cook breakfast or use the pub for a full English breakfast, pack up the tents and start our journey from Linton-on-Ouse to York City Centre within a few hours you will start to see some civilisation as we enter into York. As we arrive into York we will be greeted by our transport team. Here we will sort the kit out and get you transported back to Boroughbridge to your vehicle(s) if required.

Throughout the river trip our qualified guide will be on hand to teach you the basic techniques involved in canoeing such as paddling, steering and staying in control of your canoe.

This trip is a great multi day out for families, friends, stag and hen parties and team development weekends. It is suitable for all abilities from the age of 7 upwards.
