The Archery Leader qualification has been used to train individuals to lead archery activities for over twenty years. There are now over 8,000 active archery leaders in the UK.
The Archery GB Leaders Award qualification is designed to be used by professionals and volunteers working outside of the Archery GB club structure, for example in sport centres, outdoor education centres, adventure and holiday parks and youth associations.
To gain the qualification you require no previous archery experience! Full support is provided by the course tutors throughout the course.
The course takes place over 3 days and includes an assessment to pass.
The course is structured around 3 core units whereby candidates gain the necessary knowledge and experience to confidently lead archery activities.
Unit A: General, candidates learn about:
* All safety observances and rules
* Alternative range layouts with regard to public and participant safety
* Suitable rounds for beginners and juniors
* Various incentive schemes
Unit B: Shooting, candidates learn how to:
* Hit the target consistently at up to 20 yards using barebow and freestyle styles of shooting
Unit C: Teaching and improving, candidates will be able to:
* Demonstrate basic barebow
* Demonstrate basic freestyle
* Improve performance in both styles of shooting
Candidates on the course will be provided with full support, guidance and feedback from the course tutor. Candidates are assessed on each unit on the last day of the course. Each candidate who passes will be awarded with the Archery GB Leaders certificate.
Date of the course- 27th, 28th and 29th of October 2017
Course venue- Grinton Lodge YHA, near Richmond, North Yorkshire.
The course is run over 3 days with participants arriving at 9am and finishing for the day at 5pm on each of the three days. Overnight accommodation is available on the nights of the 27th and 28th of October for an additional £50 total which includes breakfast.
