Explore most of the main beauty spots the Yorkshire Dales National Park has to offer with our three day ‘Cycle the Dales’ trip. It also takes in lots of areas that are very rarely visited by most tourists as they are off the beaten track.
Its suitable for all cyclist with a moderate level of cycling ability, we have put in various stops along the way which allows you to have look at some of villages and sample some of the great food which is all sourced or made locally in the Yorkshire Dales.

The days are not long in distance, but they have roughly 1000m of climbing per day and it gives us the option to stop in villages, giving you chance to explore the local villages.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Reeth to Grassington

Leaving Reeth we head to the village of Grinton where we start the climb of the Cote de Grinton which was one the climbs on the Tour de France Stage one back in 2014. Then we head on to Middleham which is well-known for its horse racing and then head into Coverdale where we gradually climb up to the top of Park Rash where we descend into Kettlewell. Leaving Kettlewell we take the short cycle to the village of Grassington. Grassington is a small village with a cobbled square which has some great shops, café, restaurants and pubs.

Day 2 – Grassington to Dent

Leaving Grassington we wind our way through the country lanes to Airton where we will stop for a coffee break at the famous Town End Farm Shop before tackling the climb that passes Malham Cove, leaving Malham we have a undulating the ride to Settle, where we stop for lunch. The Ye Olde Naked Man Café  is renowned for been a great cycle friendly café. Leaving Settle we head to Ingleton where we cycle to Kingsdale which is riddled with caves. Kingsdale leads into Dentdale where we will spend the evening. Dent is home to the mighty little brewery- Dentdale Brewery which supplies lots of the local pubs and restaurants.

Day 3 Dent to Reeth

Leaving Dent we cycle to Hawes in Wensleydale, which is world famous for its Wensleydale Cheese. We will have a break here where we will take the Wensleydale Creamy tour giving you chance to sample their vast choice of different cheeses. Leaving Hawes we cycle to Askrigg where we begin to climb out of Wensleydale and head into Swaledale cycling back down the valley to Reeth.

Bike Hire

You can hire a bike (road, hybrid or e-bike) from the local bike shop Grinton which is just outside of Reeth. Contact us if you’d like to hire a bike.
