Alfresco Adventures offers two First Aid courses (1 day and 2 day) delivered by highly trained instructors for individuals or groups wanting to improve their understanding of basic or intermediate First Aid techniques and how to deal with emergency situations. These skills are applicable in the workplace, outdoors and in everyday life. In this instance the courses are largely conducted within the context of the outdoors. Our highly trained instructors are able to offer this REC Emergency First Aid at Work (outdoor context) course for clients wanting to improve their understanding of basic First Aid techniques and understanding of how to deal with emergency situations. These skills are important in both the workplace and in everyday life. These courses provide the candidate with a “basic” or “intermediate” understanding of First Aid in an indoor and outdoor setting. The importance of first aid is that it gives initial assistance given to a victim of injury/ trauma or illness. Candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age. There is no formal exam and individual’s capabilities are assessed throughout the course. The courses are delivered under the Rescue Emergency Care (REC) programme which emphasises practical hands on scenarios, such as how to deal with hyperthermia, how to deal with suspension trauma, open and closed wounds, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and more. We aim to promote fun in learning and the feedback from the courses has been excellent – “I attended the 2 days outdoor first aid course with Alfresco Adventures. The course was well delivered and the instructors made what could have been a dull two days’ fun and enjoyable but still focused on the seriousness of the subject. Highly recommended and I’ll be back in 3 years for my refresh.” Sarah Towers First Aid training is important because:

  • It increases safety
  • Helps saves lives
  • Helps relieve pain
  • Makes individuals feel more secure
  • Prevents injuries, trauma and illness becoming worse

We hold courses for individuals and small groups on set days at the Swaledale Mountain Rescue Base in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire. We can also deliver courses specially for your group or organisation at a venue that suits you.
